About The Position

That's WEIS! The Barista is responsible for creating personalized experiences for customers by demonstrating knowledge of our coffee, products, and offers. They actively seek to recognize, include, appreciate, support, and delight customers. The Barista is proud to develop expertise in their craft while diligently maintaining equipment and the store environment, working in assigned positions and using appropriate routines. They craft and serve only the highest quality products, continually honing their craft through learning and practice. They ensure food and merchandise is visually appealing, stocked, and signed appropriately. The Barista contributes to the success of the team and supports others to do their best work, seeking opportunities to recognize, include, appreciate, support, and delight fellow baristas. They follow established policies and guidelines and communicate important information to the store leader(s) and the team in a timely manner. They may operate and be responsible for cash register operations, following policies and procedures to ensure proper money handling to avoid cash overages or shortages. They are responsible for general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements. They dispose of trash properly. They may assist with baling cardboard or other related duties (if properly trained – training provided). They may assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of a power jack or hand jack (if properly trained – training provided). They are responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to cut resistant gloves, safety cutters, company sponsored footwear, etc. They may also be called upon to assist in other departments. This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • No prior experience required.
  • Ability to read, simple verbal or written instructions; ability to write short memos/messages.
  • Able to communicate information effectively one on one, and in small groups (customers and co-workers).
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
  • Able to perform these operations using American units of money, weight, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one- and two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Minimum eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Operate equipment and utilization of knives
  • Ability to pass drug test.

  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of information.
  • Ability and willingness to move with purpose and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work overtime on an occasional basis.
