About The Position

The Barista is responsible for creating personalized experiences for customers by demonstrating knowledge of our coffee, products, and offers. They actively seek to recognize, include, appreciate, support, and delight customers. The role involves proudly developing expertise in their craft while diligently maintaining equipment and the store environment, working in assigned positions and using appropriate routines. The Barista crafts and serves only the highest quality products, continually honing their craft through learning and practice. They ensure food and merchandise is visually appealing, stocked, and signed appropriately. Additionally, the Barista contributes to the success of the team, supports others to do their best work, and seeks opportunities to recognize, include, appreciate, support, and delight fellow baristas. They follow established policies and guidelines and communicate important information to store leader(s) and the team in a timely manner. Responsibilities may include operating the cash register, ensuring proper money handling, general sanitation, following cleaning schedules, disposing of trash properly, assisting with baling cardboard, and potentially assisting with receiving and storing deliveries. The role also requires responsible utilization of all company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE). This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to read, simple verbal or written instructions; ability to write short memos/messages.
• Able to communicate information effectively one on one, and in small groups (customers and co-workers).
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
• Able to perform these operations using American units of money, weight, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one- and two-step instructions.
• Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
• Minimum eighteen (18) years of age.
• Ability to pass drug test.
• Committed to providing customer service that makes both internal and external customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
• Ability to preserve confidentiality of information.
• Ability and willingness to move with purpose and a strong sense of urgency.
• Ability to work overtime on an occasional basis.

• Disposes of trash properly.
• May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties (if properly trained – training provided).
• May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of a power jack or hand jack (if properly trained – training provided).
• Responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE).
• May also be called upon to assist in other departments.
