About The Position
Kafe Mera, a Greek-inspired speciality cafe in the heart of the Loop, is looking for experienced baristas. Baristas prepare high-quality coffee and beverage products while delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves operating coffee equipment, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and ensuring each guest has a positive experience.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience as a barista
- Current SERV Safe or equivalent food safety certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso-based drinks brewed coffee, teas, and specialty beverages according to recipes and quality standards (using a manual espresso machine)
- Take customer orders accurately and make menu recommendations
- Handle transactions using POS systems and process payments
- Restock ingredients, cups, lids, condiments, and merchandise
- Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, efficient service
- Regularly clean equipment, counters, and work areas
- Maintain a clean, organized, well-stocked café
- Additional duties as needed withing the scope of the role
