About The Position

Fairmont Breakers is a historic luxury hotel in Long Beach, California, that has undergone extensive renovation to restore its original grandeur. It features 185 boutique rooms and suites, a rooftop pool and terrace, an open-air rooftop lounge with Pacific views, a two-story spa, wellness and fitness center, various dining venues and bars including a live jazz club, and 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space. The hotel aims to provide an exceptional culinary experience with artful surroundings and innovative offerings. The Barista role involves consistently providing professional, friendly, and engaging service, preparing a variety of coffee, espresso, and juice bar drinks, and maintaining the cleanliness and stock of stations. This position also requires managing customer transactions using a POS system, assisting with bartender duties when necessary, and ensuring all equipment is operated and sanitized safely. The Barista is expected to maintain high standards of service, support the culinary team, control costs, and proactively assist co-workers, all while being familiar with the property's menu items and services to exceed guest expectations and uphold LQA/Forbes 5 standards.

Requirements

Must have minimum one year of customer service experience
Must have exceptional organizational qualities (skills)
Must have friendly, helpful, engaging manner
Able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
Maintain stock and cleanliness of stations for all meal periods with necessary equipment
Prepare all coffee, espresso, juice bar drinks ordered while maintaining high productivity levels
Maintain accurate department signage and pricing
Manage transactions with customers using POS system
Maintain back stock in good order
May assist with bartender duties when required
Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner
Sweep floors between guests and service accordingly
Clean up spills and debris off the floor during and between service
Discard trash to appropriate location
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the station and the workspace
Ensure standards are respected with regards to plate presentation
Expedite food orders when necessary
Support and assist Chefs and Managers
Control costs and waste
Be proactive by assisting co-workers
Be familiar with all menu items and aspects and services of the property
Clear excess dishes on counter to maintain clean and orderly appearance
Exceed guest’s expectations
Maintain LQA/Forbes 5 standards of service
Comply with liquor laws
Maintain regular and predictable attendance
Other duties as assigned
