About The Position

The Barista provides superior customer service while maintaining a clean and attractive outlet for guests. The role greets customers, prepares orders accurately and efficiently, processes guest checks and payments, and works to ensure guest satisfaction. The Barista maintains product preparation standards, cleans and sanitizes work areas and equipment, follows accounting procedures, and balances the house bank at the end of each shift. The role also follows attendance rules and performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Basic mathematical skills to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks and the house bank, prepare cash drops, total other charges, and understand portion sizes in relation to pricing.
Ability to operate a keyboard and follow Point of Sale procedures.
Ability to effectively handle and resolve conflict situations, such as an inaccurate check total.
Ability to sit and/or stand and work continually in confined spaces, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Responsibilities

Greet customers promptly with a friendly and sincere welcome, listen to requests, and communicate clearly.
Prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently.
Ring guest checks correctly and close them using the appropriate payment method, including cash, credit card, or house charge.
Ensure guest satisfaction and tactfully negotiate resolutions when guests are dissatisfied.
Maintain the highest standards for product preparation.
Clean or sanitize work areas, utensils, equipment, service stations, and seating areas.
Follow accounting guidelines for payments, check totals, tip disbursement, cash drawer, and house bank management.
Balance the house bank at the end of each shift and retrieve and return it to the vault as required.
Follow attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
