About The Position

The Barista provides superior customer service while maintaining a clean and attractive outlet for guests. The role includes welcoming customers, accurately and efficiently preparing orders, processing guest checks and payments, resolving dissatisfaction, maintaining product-preparation standards, and following payment and cash-accountability procedures. The position also requires regular attendance and performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Basic mathematical skills to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks and the bank, prepare cash drops, total other charges, and understand portion sizes in relation to pricing.
Ability to operate a keyboard and use Point of Sale procedures.
Ability to effectively handle and resolve conflict situations, such as an inaccurate check total.
Ability to sit and/or stand and work continually in confined spaces, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Responsibilities

Greet customers promptly with a friendly and sincere welcome; listen to and understand their requests.
Prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently while maintaining high standards for product preparation.
Ring guest checks correctly and close them using the appropriate payment method, including cash, credit card, or house charge.
Ensure guest satisfaction and tactfully negotiate a resolution when a guest is dissatisfied.
Clean or sanitize work areas, utensils, equipment, service stations, and seating areas.
Follow accounting guidelines for payments, check-total verification, tip disbursement, cash drawer and house bank management.
Balance the house bank at the end of the shift and retrieve and return the bank to and from the vault, ensuring accountability.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
