About The Position

Baristas at Blank Street help set the tone for the customer experience by providing welcoming hospitality, preparing drinks, and contributing to smooth, efficient cafe shifts. As part of the founding Los Angeles team, baristas will have influence on how Blank Street operates locally and access to growth opportunities as the company expands. The role involves serving a focused menu, working with a close-knit team, and maintaining high standards for drinks, service, and the cafe environment. Baristas use company equipment, coffee, and matcha; support events and promotions with Operations and Marketing; and continue training as the company evolves. They also learn and carry out procedures for cash handling, inventory, waste tracking, and opening and closing. The position requires customer service experience, availability aligned with cafe needs, and the ability to lift at least 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience in a customer service position; hospitality or coffee experience preferred.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Able to lift 25 pounds or more and stand for long periods.
Availability that meets cafe needs.
Part-time schedule: 15–25 hours per week, 3 days per week, including 2 peak days (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday).
Full-time schedule: 30–40 hours per week, 4–5 days per week, including 2 peak days (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday).
Friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate about hospitality.
Adaptable and open-minded as the company changes.
Attentive to details and takes ownership of keeping shifts efficient and running smoothly.
Passionate about coffee and/or matcha and able to share that enthusiasm with customers.
Comfortable working on a diverse team and bringing different personalities together.

Responsibilities

Provide consistent, welcoming, and engaging hospitality, with the goal of turning customers into regulars.
Work as an integral member of the team using company equipment, coffee, and matcha.
Maintain a clean and organized environment that meets local Department of Health and Blank Street standards.
Partner with Operations and Marketing teams on events and promotions to reach new customers.
Continue training and adapting as the company evolves, helping raise standards and improve processes.
Learn and carry out company procedures, including cash handling, inventory, waste tracking, and opening and closing.
