About The Position

The San Antonio Zoo partnered with the SSA Group to manage daily operations in all food, catering and retail locations. The Starbucks Location next to the Train Depot is part of this partnership. As a Barista Supervisor, you will be trained through the Starbucks training issued to all team members. This role assists with maintaining product levels, ensuring quality of product served is consistent and assisting the Baristas throughout the day during peak times. Staying up to date with new trainings, launches coming up, new products to be featured to make the team aware. This location does run 365 days a year, open on holidays, weekends and in November and December extended hours are in place.

• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle boxes (10-35lbs) as necessary to operation, which entails lifting, and perform all functions as set forth above.
• Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.

Nice To Haves

• 1-2 years of quick service management and/or operations supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Live out 452 Hospitality by delivering warm, welcoming, and memorable experiences for every guest and client.
• Ensure location, or zone, is adequately stocked, prepped, and staffed for daily operation, working with direct reports to fill as necessary.
• Oversees direct location, or zone, operational duties ensuring quick service, food service, safety and quality, availability, merchandising and guest service standards are all met and excelled.
• Supports the build of daily prep and item lists, delegating to employees as necessary.
• Actively helps to support operations and fill holes as necessary to ensure smooth service.
• Assigns associates to duties, coaching through projects, daily tasks, and guest interaction.
• Actively and efficiently responds to guest feedback.
• Familiar with intermediate food and beverage knowledge, including but not limited to serve-safe food temperatures, FIFO product rotation, safe food handling, food storage and labeling, safe alcohol service, sanitation and overall area cleanliness.
• Maintains general organizational upkeep of each outlet’s storage areas/back dock spaces within designated zone.
• Responsible for daily check-ins with outlets, ensuring that information given to them via preshift meetings each morning is being communicated to team members across their zone.
• Ability to limit and control waste through maintaining proper prep levels and daily tracking of waste through provided waste logs.
• Maintains consistency with all product and serves product based on the standards set by the operations and culinary team.
• Ability to create and communicate a plan for the next day regarding staffing, prep, and to-do lists with direct reports.
• Implements proper merchandising of product as set by the Operations team.
• Monitors and controls production of all product in your zone (including but not limited to popcorn, kettle corn, cotton candy, mustard cups, bottled beverages and other carts items) as specific to your assigned zone.
• Supports oversight of personnel duties, including but not limited to: Training new employees and issuing performance reviews. Actively coaching the employee on performance with oversight from operations manager. Oversees break and rest break management for employees.
• Inspects equipment and performs routine maintenance and cleaning as necessary.
• Assists team to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner through helping complete daily tasks as necessary.
• Remains knowledgeable of and supervises in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal laws.
• Perform other tasks as deemed necessary.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment.
• Uphold and demonstrate a complete understanding of company policies and procedures.
• Promote an inclusive & supportive approach within the Brand team, with networking continuing at all units.
• Focuses on removing barriers and empowering growth and opportunity for team members at all levels.
• Leads by example through Sustainability/Conservation efforts; displays knowledge of efforts in business application as well as giving adequate opportunity for teaching to unit staff as necessary.
• Engages with SSA/Unit in driving community effort through engagement activities and focus. On opportunities of giving back.
