Barista/Cashier 2026/27
About The Position
The Food and Beverage department is a team-oriented department focused on providing our guests with excellent customer service and a pleasurable dining experience. The Barista is responsible for the preparation and service of Lift Up Cafe and/or North Fork Bistro food & beverage menu items. Responsibilities include daily set-up and breakdown of this work area; maintaining it in a neat and sanitary condition. Maintaining the highest standards of menu item preparation following standard recipes to ensure consistency of all food and beverages served. Cashiering is another key function of this role. The responsibilities cashiering are to accurately calculate food and beverage sales; to pleasantly interact with guests, answer their questions, as well as assisting with necessary tasks to maintain the smooth operation of the dining area. This position may also work at the Creekside Lodge, Lift Up Cafe, North Fork Bistro, Outside BBQ or Way Station mid mountain restaurant. Working as a team member and focusing on fulfilling our guests’ needs are key roles for Food and Beverage.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Prior cash handling and food service experience preferred.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to learn a computerized P.O.S. system.
- Good organizational skills.
- Must be well groomed and present a good public image.
- Good physical conditioning, including flexibility, strength and endurance, including heavy and awkward lifting to 50lbs.
- Good manual and physical dexterity skills.
- Safety and risk orientated.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Requires the skills of a host. This involves approaching guests in a courteous manner, inquiring if they have any questions and being able to respond professionally.
- Comply with all departmental and company policies and procedures.
- Responsible use and care of all kitchen and food service equipment
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate an on-going commitment to delivering excellent customer service. This involves interacting with guests in a courteous manner and being able to answer questions professionally.
- Accurately handle cash and change transaction. Proper operation of Point of Sales system ensuring accuracy and following policy and procedures. Responsible for balancing cash drawers at the close of each day.
- Be knowledgeable of menu items and pricing.
- Prepare coffee, espresso and hot chocolate, and maintain proper stocking levels.
- Perform and assist with the opening and closing procedures of the department, front line operations, preparations, customer service, merchandising, and presentation.
- Clean tables and floor clean.
- Keep service counters clean.
- Coordinate with other employees to effectively obtain their goals.
- Must wear a hat with hair tied back.
- Practice safe food handling procedures of department.
- Work with snow removal teams on snowy mornings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Obtain and maintain a valid “California Food Handlers Card”
