About The Position

Mass General Brigham relies on a wide range of professionals to advance its mission of patient care, research, teaching, and community service. This role is responsible for providing advanced clinical and administrative responsibilities within clinical nutrition, managing the comprehensive medical nutritional care of patients. This includes nutrition assessment, development of nutrition care plans, diet modification, and nutrition education, specifically for the bariatric patient population at the NWH Center for Weight Loss Surgery. The position ensures optimum patient care, efficient operations, quality service, and sound financial management for preoperative and postoperative bariatric surgery patients. Working conditions involve being on-site, with the potential for remote work and occasional evenings for support group facilitation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Dietetics required.
  • Clinical Dietitian experience with multiple patient populations (3-5 years required).
  • Extensive knowledge in the treatment of obesity and the use of behavioral modalities to effect change.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively evaluate and problem-solve.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to guide, teach, and motivate all patient age populations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Dietetics preferred.
  • Dietitian and Nutritionist [State License] preferred.
  • Registered Dietitian [RD] preferred.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist [RDN] preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced clinical dietitian responsibilities, potentially including specialty or advanced patient populations.
  • Serves as a resource on nutrition-related concerns in clinical care forums.
  • Mentors new staff.
  • Evaluates new products.
  • Assists the leadership team in program planning and proposals to improve processes or efficiency.
  • Plans, conducts, supervises, and evaluates the education experiences of dietetic interns and students.
  • Develops and implements nutrition care plans for patients based on nutritional needs, physician's orders, clinical data, and interdisciplinary healthcare plans.
  • Documents all nutrition-related information, including assessments, therapy recommendations, care plans, follow-up data, diet consultation results, discharge planning, and daily clinical activities.
  • Counsels, educates, and develops resources and materials for patients and families on prescribed therapeutic diets.
  • Partners with food service staff to ensure meals, supplements, and nutrition support are provided.
  • Reviews patients' menu selections to monitor compliance with modified diets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
