Our Values Respect | Belonging | Accountability | Transparency Department Perioperative Bus Svc (Admin) Pay range for this PRN/ Intermittent role: $30.43 - $44.13 Job Summary Under minimal supervision, performs in-patient nutrition assessment, re-assessment, menu management and education while working directly with patients. Implements Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to optimize patient care and outcomes. As a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, actively participates in patient care rounds. Assists Chief Clinical Dietitian with PI/CQI activities to ensure quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 1-3 years related experience in clinical or public health nutrition required
  • DIETICIAN-Registered Dietitian Certification - CDR - Commission on Dietetic Registration required
  • Effective communication skills in both oral and written form.
  • Demonstrates ability to delegate responsibility as appropriate.
  • Ability to exercise good independent judgment.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Process the ability to assess data reflecting the patient’s status and interpreting appropriate information.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of disease specific and age specific nutrition standards of care.
  • Demonstrates understanding of Local, State, Federal and The Joint Commission standards and regulations.
  • Demonstrates competency with computer system for order entry and to update diet and patient information.
  • Demonstrates understanding of how to use most current version of on-line Nutrition Care Manual.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and other IT/software systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provides outpatient education in Bariatric Nutrition Clinic (covering clinic for others on PTO and covering overflow clinics as needed) to prepare patients for bariatric surgery (dietary guidelines, stages of post-op diet, dietary supplements, etc).
  • Provides education with respect to the patient/family’s education level, optimal learning tool(s)/techniques(s) and readiness to learn.
  • Provides patient education according to established policy.
  • Performs individual and group nutrition education according to established standards of care.
  • Attends post-op interdisciplinary team clinic to provide support to patients who are one-week or one-month post-op.
  • Prioritizes workload appropriately.
  • Assists patients with menu planning and meeting appropriate caloric needs communicates effectively with patients, visitors, peers, medical staff and other employees.
  • Effectively obtains patient information and handles patient/customer requests and complaints.
  • Effectively uses computer software/programs/electronic medical record to perform clinical activities.
  • Accurately inputs clinical activity data into computer tracking program.
  • Maintains ongoing professional education through participation in meetings, seminars, in-services and literature review to enhance nutrition knowledge, and professional development and practice.
  • Functions as a team player in the department knowing when to ask for assistance as needed and being able to assist when required.
