About The Position
The Learning Leader Barber shapes the educational experience of aspiring barbers at Paul Mitchell the School Turange Beauty Institute. The role develops and implements a comprehensive curriculum that meets industry standards and inspires students to excel. The instructor mentors students through practical and theoretical lessons, helping them gain the skills and knowledge needed for the barbering profession. The role also fosters a positive learning environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and personal growth, and contributes to producing skilled, confident, job-ready graduates. The school’s mission is to prepare students to pass the state board examination and gain entry-level employment in their chosen field. Its purpose is to develop technically strong professionals equipped to succeed in the industry.
Requirements
- Valid barbering license in the state of hire.
- Valid barber instructor license if required by the state for educating.
- Proven experience as a barber with a strong portfolio of work.
- Previous teaching or mentoring experience in a barbering or cosmetology setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Practical barbering skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Creativity in developing engaging lessons.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with curriculum development and instructional design.
- Familiarity with current trends and techniques in the barbering industry.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging, effective barbering curriculum aligned with industry standards.
- Provide hands-on training and mentorship, helping students develop practical skills in cutting, styling, and grooming.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to support student growth.
- Maintain a safe, organized learning environment and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained.
- Collaborate with educators and staff to improve the educational experience and address student needs.
- Demonstrate barbering techniques and communicate complex concepts to students.
- Organize lesson plans and student assessments, and develop engaging lesson plans.
