Barback (Part-Time)
About The Position
The Barback is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and breaking down assigned bar locations. This role involves anticipating the needs of Bartenders to ensure timely and responsible beverage service to guests, while always promoting a positive guest experience and superior customer service. The Barback assists in the day-to-day operations of the Sphere Food & Beverage department, providing fast, professional, and courteous service to bartenders. This role requires the ability to assist supervisors, transport product between the warehouse and bar locations, and break down machinery such as popcorn machines, drink machines, and coolers. Responsibilities include setting up, stocking, and maintaining bar areas, ensuring proper storage and presentation of liquor, garnish, glasses, and other products, and delivering ice. The Barback also helps maintain the warehouse area according to Sphere standards and Southern Nevada Department of Health Code, provides exceptional experiences for guests, partners, and team members by adhering to appearance guidelines, and answers patron questions regarding the Sphere facility.
Requirements
- Prior barback experience preferred.
- Must work rapidly and remain calm during peak periods.
- General physical requirements such as lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Standing for long periods, walking long distances, bending, and constant motion.
- May be exposed to theatrical smoke, strobe lights, pyrotechnics, intense sound, rapid motion video effects, smoke, and odors.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, split days off, weekends, and holidays in a 24 X 7 environment.
- Possession of an Alcohol Certification Card.
- Possession of a Food Handler Safety Training Card.
- Possession of an LVMPD – Non-Gaming Work Card.
Responsibilities
- Setting up, maintaining, and breaking down assigned bar locations.
- Anticipating the needs of Bartenders to ensure timely and responsible beverage service.
- Promoting positive guest/client experience and superior customer service.
- Assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Sphere Food & Beverage department.
- Providing fast, professional, and courteous service to all bartenders.
- Assisting supervisors and carrying product up and down stairs from the warehouse to bar locations.
- Knowing all bar positions and product locations for efficient transport.
- Breaking down machinery including popcorn machines, drink machines, and coolers.
- Setting up stock and maintaining bar areas, including breakdown and cleanup.
- Ensuring liquor, garnish, glasses, and product are properly stored and presented.
- Delivering and distributing ice.
- Maintaining the warehouse area according to Sphere standards and following Southern Nevada Department of Health Code.
- Providing exceptional experiences for guests, partners, and team members by adhering to appearance and presentation guidelines.
- Providing information to patrons and answering questions regarding the Sphere facility.
