About The Position

NAIA, a Greek-Levantine dining destination located along the Chicago River in River North, is seeking Barbacks. This role supports bartenders by ensuring clean, organized, and stocked bar wells for prompt and seamless drink service. The position is ideal for individuals with stamina, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and a desire to start a career in the restaurant industry.

Requirements

1+ year of experience as a Barback.
Fine dining and/or high-volume restaurant experience preferred.
Knowledge of local health department requirements for safe food handling and sanitation standards.
Non-expired Food Handlers and Basset Certification required.
Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
A passion for quality and respect for team members and guests.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to move, bend, lift, carry, push, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Ability to stand or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
Ability to complete tasks that require repetitive motion.

Responsibilities

Assist with opening and closing duties such as stocking the bar with consumables and perishables (garnishes, straws, napkins, towels, glassware, etc.) and restocking throughout service.
Ensure adequate ice, liquor, wine, and beer are available at all times.
Check taps for proper function and change kegs as needed.
Maintain bar cleanliness by wiping surfaces, sweeping, mopping, removing soiled glassware, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash.
Interact with guests courteously and enthusiastically, answering their questions.
Support bartenders by taking orders, preparing drinks, and processing payments, especially during peak hours.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
