About The Position

The Barback is responsible for assisting the bartender by performing various duties to ensure the smooth operation of the bar. This includes supporting opening and closing procedures, replenishing supplies, responding to bartender requests, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring guest satisfaction through a friendly and professional demeanor.

Requirements

  • Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Knowledge of internet software.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Less than one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Customer service skills

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit and taste or smell.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see color.

Responsibilities

  • Assists bartenders with opening and closing of bar.
  • Monitors and replenishes ice, fruit, beer, wine, spirits, mixers, and glasses throughout the shift as needed in both the general and VIP areas.
  • Responds to bartender calls for bar needs.
  • Clears bar and tables as needed.
  • Prepares a requisition for bar needs that were depleted during shift.
  • Keeps work prep and serving areas clean according to State Board of Health standards.
  • Presents a clean and professional appearance at all times.
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Ensures guest satisfaction by responding to guest inquiries with accurate information and a positive attitude.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
