The Cook County State's Attorney's Office (CCSAO) is seeking Class of 2027 Law Students who are looking to devote their careers to working with a nationally recognized litigation team. The CCSAO is the second largest county prosecution office in the country, employing over 700 lawyers. The legal staff is diverse and reflective of the community it serves. CCSAO is looking for candidates with varied experience, including favorable academic standing (GPA of 2.5 and above) at an ABA-accredited law school, excellent writing ability, relevant law school activities (e.g., Mock Trial, Moot Court, Trial Team), and course selections (e.g., Criminal Law, Evidence, Trial Advocacy). A documented interest in public service and/or criminal law, along with the highest standards of professional and personal integrity, are also important factors. A completed application requires a resume, cover letter, official or unofficial transcript, and a legal writing sample not exceeding 5 pages. The deadline to apply is September 30, 2026. Interviews are conducted on a rolling basis through the end of Fall 2026. Offers may be sent in late January 2027. Applicants must pass the MPRE and July 2027 Bar Exam to remain with the office. The start date is August 2027. This is a full-time role with benefits. Assignments are made based on staffing needs and may be outside of commuting preferences. Applicants must be prepared for any CCSAO location in Cook County and arrange their own transportation. The CCSAO does not provide relocation assistance and does not sponsor H1-B visa petitions.
