About The Position

CHG is seeking a passionate Bar Operations Supervisor, also known as the Beverage Supervisor, to support all beverage operations at their newest event venue, The Mallory, as well as supporting the larger CHG organization. The Beverage Supervisor supports oversight, preparation, and execution of the venue’s beverage program. This role supervises and oversees the CHG event bar staff team during individual programs as well as in preparation for programs. Additionally, the Beverage Supervisor supports the maintenance of daily bar operations including scheduling, beverage staff assignments, crafting bar preparatory ingredients, and staff training, ensuring a premium guest experience at every function. They work closely with staff, clients, caterers, and event planners to execute beverage offerings, secure special requests, and deliver seamless bar service. This is a hands-on role that requires being present during event load-ins, bar setups, and service hours. The Beverage Supervisor should be comfortable balancing administrative responsibilities with active event support in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in bar operations, lead bartending, or beverage coordination, ideally within an event-driven or high-volume hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktail techniques.
  • Experience with advanced cocktail production.
  • Experience with inventory oversight inclusive of requisitions, consumption identification, and monthly inventory counting.
  • A service-first approach with the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced, high-end event environment.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to support events.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs., stand/walk for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Beverage certifications (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, or equivalent) are a significant plus.
  • Valid NYC Food Handlers permit and certification in responsible alcohol service preferred (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol)

Responsibilities

  • Train, execute, provide feedback on seasonal beverage menus including cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic offerings, aligned with CHG standards and trends unique to each of CHG’s distinctive brands.
  • Facilitate execution of best practices including but not limited to service standards, glassware and bar equipment, and garnishment techniques to ensure 100% consistency.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of beverage trends, products, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure consistent beverage preparation, presentation and quality.
  • Participate in client site tours and facilitate the Amenity Lounge and S&D programs as needed.
  • Support the purchasing of beverage products, bar equipment, and supplies.
  • Track inventory, usage, and implement systems to minimize waste and control costs of all products and equipment.
  • Perform hard-counts of product and equipment as directed by the beverage director and/or general manager and prepare cost-analysis reports.
  • Receive and properly store deliveries, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Advise and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Execute day-of services as outlined by the Beverage Director and Senior Event Producer and in alignment with event documents including but not limited to PEOs, production schedules, run of show, etc.
  • Ensure specialty product requests and services are executed as planned to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all custom beverage-related inquiries during the setup and execution of events.
  • Ability to adapt and lead others through service changes and pivots.
  • Ensure proper opening and closing of the venue, following all procedures and best practices.
  • Oversee bar setup, breakdown, and service execution for events, ensuring a premium guest experience and pristine back-of-house standards.
  • Train and develop members of the CHG Event Bar Staff, providing timely and relevant feedback on their behavior and performance, while escalating issues to the Beverage Director or General Manager. Maintain documentation as needed to support performance improvement plans.
  • Support the training of bartenders on recipes, service standards, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Ensure compliance with all alcohol service laws, health codes, and venue policies.
  • Provide hands-on support including but not limited to the amenity spaces and services, room setups, and general operations as needed.
  • Ensure all incidents, accidents and critical feedback is logged for investigation, and action solutions as necessary with guidance from the manager on duty.
  • Understand the need for change and display a positive attitude towards it, while motivating others to adapt.
