About The Position

TPC Scottsdale, home of the fan-favorite WM Phoenix Open, is seeking a part-time Bar Back to join their team. As Arizona’s only PGA TOUR property, you'll experience high standards of quality and service. This role involves setting tables, clearing dishes, and refreshing tables according to service standards. You will be responsible for keeping the bar stocked, preparing garnishes, refilling ice wells, changing beer kegs, and restocking supplies. Additionally, you will clean spills, organize the counter, maintain bar cleanliness, coordinate with various staff, handle emergency situations, and perform end-of-night cleaning duties. You will also be responsible for distributing clean dishes, silverware, and glassware, setting up and breaking down event areas, and ensuring service procedures align with TPC Brand Standards. Attending pre-meal meetings, completing assigned side work, and operating within established guidelines are also key aspects of this role. You will also be responsible for relaying member and guest feedback to supervisors and ensuring intoxicated guests are not served.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the role of a Barback in a high-volume bar
  • Be the legal age to serve alcohol
  • Physically able to meet the demands of the job, such as lifting up to 25 pounds and standing for long hours
  • Strong knowledge of bar menu items
  • Willing to work in night shifts and on weekends and holidays
  • Friendly, responsible and punctual

Responsibilities

  • Set tables with appropriate place settings and in accordance with the particular meal period.
  • Remove all dirty dishes, silverware, and glassware in the dining room areas whenever necessary, and deliver them to the assigned dish washing area in the kitchen.
  • Refresh tables as necessary according to defined steps of service for particular meal period.
  • Keep the bar stocked with liquor, syrups, glasses, napkins and all other necessary items before and during service hours.
  • Prepare garnishes, refill ice wells, change beer kegs and restock napkins and straws.
  • Clean up the spills, remove the glassware and organize the counter.
  • Keep the bar area neat and clean.
  • Coordinate with managers, kitchen staff and security personnel to ensure efficient service to customers.
  • Handle emergency situations, like cleaning up broken glasses and clearing up clogged drains.
  • Perform end of night bar cleaning responsibilities to include sanitizing all bar surfaces, bar wells, sweeping and mopping, trash removal.
  • Pick up and distribute all clean dishes, silverware, and glassware from the appropriate storage areas to the appropriate service station.
  • Set-up and break-down buffets, banquet tables, chairs, head tables, display tables, theme decorations, and other equipment as requested per contract.
  • Ensure that service procedures are adhered to as outlined in the TPC Brand Standards.
  • Attend pre-meal meeting as requested.
  • Complete daily assigned side work.
  • Operate within all guidelines, policies, standards, and constraints as established by PGA TOUR Golf Course Properties, Inc.
  • Understand members and guests comments and complaints and forwards that information immediately to supervisor.
  • Ensure that the Supervisor on the floor, Director of Food and Beverage and/or GM are informed of members/guests who may be intoxicated.
  • Any member/guest who is clearly intoxicated is NOT to be served.
  • Special projects or other duties as assigned.
