About The Position

Bar Attendants prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and small pre-packaged snacks to customers. This role involves ensuring customers are of legal drinking age, taking orders accurately, processing transactions, and maintaining a clean and sanitary bar environment. The position requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to manage a cash drawer, and the capacity to work well under pressure in a potentially loud and fast-paced environment. Flexibility in scheduling, including weekends and holidays, is essential.

Requirements

  • Sufficient Training and education to demonstrate possession of required knowledge, skills and qualifications are required.
  • A minimum of 2 years directly related experience tending bar
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and prior experience on serving customers
  • Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly or argumentative patrons
  • Must be of legal drinking age or older
  • Maintain a current and valid Arizona Title 4 Basic Liquor Law Training Certification at all times
  • Ability to utilize a Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, use hands to finger, handle, grasp, pull, push, or feel; reach with hands and arms above shoulders and talk or hear and an ability to taste and smell.
  • Prolonged standing to prepare drinks and serve customers.
  • Ability to complete orders quickly and accurately.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds or more with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, serves, and sells beverages to include wine, beer, non-alcoholic drinks as ordered and prepackaged snack items.
  • Ensures that all customers are of legal drinking age by checking and verifying photo identifications.
  • Take customer orders in a friendly and timely manner.
  • Start and complete transactions using cash, credit, and debit cards.
  • Comply with all state and local food and beverage regulations.
  • Maintains and cleans all bar surfaces and areas maintaining a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Properly clean, sanitize and air dries all glassware.
  • Impeccable customer service and social perceptiveness to include the ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and responsiveness and pivot service as needed.
  • Uses proper judgment and, when necessary, refuses service to patrons who are intoxicated or disruptive.
  • Properly stock the bar throughout the shift with beer, water, wine, and snacks.
  • At the end of shift, ensures the bar is fully stocked and ready for the next shift.
  • Responsible to manage the cash drawer including, beginning of shift and end of shift balancing; drop cash bag into the safe.
  • Ability to work well, exhibit professionalism and interact with others and deal with potentially ambiguous, intense, or emotionally charged circumstances.
  • Read, interpret, and understand safety, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule to include weekend work, holidays, and in some cases schedule changes on short notice.
  • Maintains a consistent record of acceptable attendance and punctuality according to policy guidelines.
