About The Position

The National is hiring for a Banquet Set-Up. This role is for individuals who believe that the details of an event can make an ordinary gathering feel extraordinary, and that a beautifully prepared meeting or event space creates the right first impression for every guest. A great fit for this role loves bringing event spaces to life by setting up tables, chairs, podiums, staging, risers, dance floors, signs, decorations, and other banquet equipment. This includes reading and following Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), function sheets, diagrams, and instructions to ensure each event is set exactly as requested. Preparing meeting rooms and banquet spaces by vacuuming, cleaning walls, windows, mirrors, and other areas according to company standards is also a key responsibility. The role involves picking up and delivering equipment and supplies to scheduled event spaces, safely transporting, setting up, breaking down, and storing tables, chairs, and other banquet equipment. Reviewing daily calendars and event function sheets and adjusting room setups based on changes or instructions from Banquet Management and Sales/Catering is crucial. Refreshing meeting rooms with linens, meeting pads, pens, pencils, candy, and other supplies as needed, and keeping service corridors, pre-function areas, meeting spaces, and storage areas clean, organized, and ready for the next event are also part of the job. Servicing meeting rooms by removing trash, dirty dishes, glasses, cups, and linens throughout an event, and jumping in to handle unexpected spills, move furniture, or assist with last-minute event needs are expected. Performing basic care and light maintenance on equipment and promptly communicating repair needs, as well as interacting with guests in a professional, courteous, and service-oriented manner are important. Working closely with Banquet Management, Banquet Captains, Sales/Catering, and fellow Curators to ensure events run smoothly is also a responsibility. The ideal candidate understands that successful events are built on preparation, precision, and attention to detail, can follow detailed instructions, diagrams, and event specifications accurately, and is organized and comfortable managing multiple tasks while maintaining a positive, outgoing attitude. Effective communication with leaders, coworkers, vendors, and guests, careful listening, and knowing when to ask questions or clarify instructions are essential. The role requires initiative, a willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities, dependability, and the ability to adjust to changing event needs and business volume. Understanding the importance of maintaining clean, organized, and guest-ready spaces throughout every event, being comfortable working behind the scenes while still providing friendly and professional guest service, and being willing to work varied schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs are also key attributes. The role takes pride in knowing that the work done behind the scenes helps create memorable experiences for every guest.
