About The Position

The Banquet Setup/Server is responsible for performing set-up and breakdown duties for scheduled banquet and meeting functions. This role also involves serving food and beverages to guests according to brand standards, setting tables with appropriate items, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of banquet areas. The position requires knowledge of department policies, service procedures, and equipment usage, as well as adherence to state liquor regulations. Additionally, the server will prepare beverages like coffee and wine, serve food courses, clear tables, and manage coffee breaks and buffet setups.

Requirements

  • Be at least 21-years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Must have an active Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission License.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent Vocational Training certificate.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience as a Restaurant or Banquet Food Server.
  • Must be able to work various on-call shifts, days, nights, weekends, holidays.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time/full shift.
  • Must be able to push/pull service carts, misc. equipment, up to 250 pounds.
  • Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and work well with other team members.
  • Must be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests.
  • Must have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system (as applicable).
  • Must be able to work unsupervised.

Responsibilities

  • Set up chairs, tables, stands, and Audio-Visual equipment according to function specifications.
  • Break down equipment and furniture after functions for storage or reuse.
  • Maintain ongoing cleanliness of banquet/meeting rooms.
  • Maintain banquet supplies and equipment in stock and in satisfactory working order.
  • Launder, fold, and store banquet linen as necessary.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all department policies, service procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment, using equipment only as intended.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests.
  • Maintain positive guest relations.
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations.
  • Retrieve alcoholic beverage items from bar and serve to guest.
  • Open and serve wine/champagne bottles.
  • Make all varieties of coffee.
  • Serve all food courses and non-alcoholic beverage items to the guest in accordance with function requirements.
  • Clear each course following procedures.
  • Set up, monitor, refresh and breakdown coffee breaks, receptions, and buffet tables for specified functions according to group requirements.
