About The Position

The Banquet Server at State College Toftrees Golf Resort is responsible for providing quality customer service to guests during events and banquets. This involves setting up assigned tables, retrieving and serving beverages and food orders according to hotel specifications and group requirements, and maintaining the cleanliness and condition of work areas and equipment. Shaner Hotels, an award-winning hospitality owner-operator and management company, manages over 65 properties across 14 states and four countries, partnering with top hospitality brands. Toftrees Golf Resort, located in Centre County, Pennsylvania, features 102 guestrooms and suites, an outdoor heated pool, fitness center, 11 event rooms, and a golf course. The resort also includes The Field Burger and Tap restaurant.

Requirements

  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • ServSafe and/or food safety training.
  • Alcohol awareness training (such as TIPS).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in banquet operations and/or hospitality preferred.
  • Some college preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele.

Responsibilities

  • Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required to meet the needs of the Company’s business operations.
  • Maintains food and beverage safety and quality based on hotel, Shaner, and Franchise specifications.
  • Greet guests as they arrive and assist them with seating at tables.
  • Take and retrieve guests' alcoholic beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques, when specified on function requirements.
  • Serve all food courses and non-alcoholic beverage items to the guest in accordance with departmental standards and function requirements.
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests; always maintain positive guest relations.
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Handle guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
