About The Position

Hocking Hills Lodge and Conference Center, located inside Hocking Hills State Park, is seeking candidates with outgoing, friendly personalities for Banquet Server positions. This role offers the opportunity to work in beautiful facilities with one of the best views in Ohio, providing memorable events for guests. The positions can be full-time, part-time, or on-call, offering flexible schedules suitable for individuals balancing other jobs, school, or home responsibilities. Hocking Hills Lodge and Conference Center is a new 81-room lodge with 40 cabins, a full-service restaurant/lounge, and banquet facilities for up to 200 guests. Hocking Hills State Park is a highly visited park, requiring a high level of attention to detail and service to meet guest expectations. Requirements

  • Ability to read and write basic English in order to communicate with customers and other employees.
  • Exercise good judgment.
  • Must possess multi-tasking skills.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage menus, food preparation and presentation.
  • Follow detailed instructions with minimal supervision at times.
  • Communicate customer needs and resolve complaints independently.
  • Must possess basic computer skills to use POS system when necessary.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, bend, crouch/stoop, twist and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Have moderate to high level of energy and physical stamina.
  • Exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. intermittently during workday.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year set up / porter experience with our company preferred.
  • Full-service banquet serving experience or prior food and beverage service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide table service and hospitality to banquet guests.
  • Maintain an efficient, clean, profitable, and professional banquet dining room and serving area by ensuring quality service and operational standards.
  • Greet, serve food and beverage, and provide table service and hospitality to guests in a professional, accurate, and friendly manner.
  • Perform shift duties such as banquet room table and chair setup, banquet server kitchen setup, cleanup, or teardown procedures.
  • Display a proper professional attitude, demeanor, and cooperation toward guests, peers, and management.
  • Assist with properly handling food and beverage product.
  • Stock and properly tear down buffet lines.
  • Take orders for food and beverage and follow Banquet Steps of Service.
  • Talk to guests, answer questions, and thank guests for their business as they depart.
  • Accurately serve food and beverage with all details and accompaniments.
  • Maintain an efficient and professional banquet dining room by ensuring quality service and hospitality standards.
  • Fully complete the Banquet Server training process, including necessary tests and training checklist.
  • Follow Banquet Steps of Service for plated service, including timing sequences, proper table serving techniques, serving courses, table maintenance, and answering guest questions about food or beverages.
  • Follow Banquet Steps of Service for buffet service, including timing sequences, proper table maintenance, and answering guest questions about food or beverages.
  • Read and interpret Banquet Event Order (BEO) sheets, understand menus, and implement BEO details for shift duties, including setup or serving details.
  • Understand and address special guest requests or needs as per BEO.
  • Follow timing cycles and maintain accurate timing in food and service delivery.
  • Actively participate in and follow the “porter food running” system.
  • For buffets, help run and stock food to ensure sufficient food is available.
  • Help keep records on products sold or served.
  • Help with accurate plate counts.
  • Learn and know how to set up, run food, maintain, and tear down buffet service.
  • Learn and know how to properly help recycle and store leftover foods.
  • Explain menu items being served, per function, to guests.
  • Know, actively demonstrate, and maintain proper room setups as per BEO requirements.
  • Confirm all meeting rooms are refreshed as needed.
  • Assist at all times.
  • Serve as a contact for guests if they have questions, especially for meetings.
  • Help maintain all banquet equipment in good, clean working condition.
  • Verify bar, kitchen, and banquet supplies and product are properly handled, stored, labeled, dated, and rotated properly.
  • Responsible for the proper handling of all equipment, i.e., dishware, glassware, silverware, linen, and props, ensuring proper storage after use.
  • Learn and maintain proper food, bar, and wine menu knowledge, especially food knowledge.
  • Participate in setting up rooms and tables in stations per shift as a team effort.
  • Participate in clearing and breakdown of rooms and tables in stations per shift as a team effort.
  • Properly sort all glassware, dishware, and silverware items during breakdown, store linens, and dispose of trash during room teardown.
  • Participate in end-of-shift, end-of-event cleanup process as directed.
