About The Position

The Banquet Server is responsible for attending pre-function meetings to understand function particulars, including guest and hotel expectations. This role requires knowledge of menus, including ingredients and preparation methods, to explain items to guests. The server will set up functions according to Banquet Event Orders (BEO), ensuring proper table settings, buffet presentation, and cleanliness of linens, silverware, and glassware. Responsibilities also include greeting and serving guests, managing check and payment procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and completing assigned side work. The position demands punctuality, a professional attitude, and adherence to all company policies and procedures, including safety and sanitation guidelines. The server will also assist with special projects and participate in task forces as needed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of menus, including ingredients and preparation methods.

  • Ability to set tables correctly and uniformly.
  • Ability to set professional, creative, functional, clean buffets.
  • Ability to greet and serve guests following policies and procedures.
  • Ability to follow check and payment policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use proper in-room clearing and aisle tray breakdown.
  • Ability to keep station neat and clean while serving guests.
  • Ability to break-down buffet or other special food service tables/equipment.
  • Ability to complete assigned side work and related cleaning duties.
  • Must be on time and at work when scheduled, and in proper uniform.
  • Must attend department meetings as scheduled.
  • Must maintain a consistent professional and positive attitude and actions when communicating with guests, vendors and associates.
  • Must report any incidents of guest dissatisfaction or unusual matters of significance to manager / supervisor.
  • Must comply with policies and procedures.
  • Must practice safe work habits and comply with sanitary, safety, security and emergency procedures.
  • Ability to write shift reports including reports on any incidents of theft, accidents or injuries when assigned.
  • Must check with manager / supervisor before leaving work area for any reason.
  • Ability to perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Ability to participate in task forces and committees as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Attend pre-function meeting to learn function particulars including guest and hotel expectations.
  • Know the menu for each function served and be able to explain major ingredients and preparation methods for each item to be served.
  • Set up function according to Banquet Event Order (BEO) including draping tables, setting silverware, folding napkins, preparing drinks and setting centerpieces.
  • Ensure cleanliness of linen, silverware, and glassware.
  • Set tables correctly and uniformly.
  • Set professional, creative, functional, clean buffets.
  • Greet and serve guests following policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in all aspects of service.
  • Immediately notify management of incidents involving possible excessive alcohol consumption or an impaired condition.
  • Follow check and payment policies and procedures when serving a-la-carte and beverage orders.
  • Use proper in-room clearing and aisle tray breakdown.
  • Keep station neat and clean while serving guests.
  • Break-down buffet or other special food service tables/equipment.
  • Complete assigned side work and related cleaning duties.
