About The Position

Performance realities will always exist, but we use these constraints to push, not limit, our creativity. The Banquet Cook is responsible for all prep and production for the banquet culinary operation, in accordance with hotel standards. The Cook comprehends the food and beverage menus and cooks all food to high quality and presentation standards. Local 26 Contract stipulates starting rate per hour at $23.72 and after 6 Months of service, rate increases to $25.42 per hour. After one year of service, hourly rate per hour increases to $33.89.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have hands-on food and beverage knowledge and a comprehensive, working knowledge of the hospitality business.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed during busy times and high-profile events, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • A minimum of relevant cooking experience in a large convention hotel is strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle multiple priorities while maintaining composure.
  • Must have the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • ServeSafe certified

Responsibilities

  • Consistent maintenance and refinement of service standards.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day culinary operation for all banquet functions, to include efficient and effective food production.
  • Perform all necessary tasks of a banquet cook according to hotel operating procedures, including but not limited to food preparation, food production, plating, and cleaning kitchen and food equipment.
  • Responsible for the upkeep, safety and cleanliness in food preparation areas, refrigeration and storage areas.
  • Work with Banquet Chef to plan and implement menu development.
  • Produce creative, contemporary dishes that are consistent with the hotel's concepts.
  • Responsible to ensure that the correct standards are being maintained.
  • Responsible for ensuring a high food quality and presentation.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and sanitation awareness standards.
  • Prepare daily for health department and Ecosure inspections.
