About The Position

The Banquet Houseperson is responsible for the set-up and teardown of function rooms as stated on Banquet Event Orders (BEO). This role involves preparing tables and chairs, moving equipment, and potentially working off-site for catered functions. The position also includes maintaining cleanliness through carpet and chair shampooing and contributing to a positive team environment. The employee is expected to perform duties not specifically listed in this description when needed to support hotel operations. A key aspect of this role is delivering passionate and engaging service to guests by recognizing individual needs and exceeding expectations through the GUEST model (Greet, Use eye and ear contact, Establish/anticipate needs, Solve and own all requests/complaints, Thank everyone).

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain next day banquet orders from banquet office.
  • Ability to set up function room according to diagram or written instructions on banquet event order.
  • Ability to set tables and place chairs.
  • Ability to lift and stack chairs for long periods of time.
  • Ability to roll and position equipment.
  • Ability to work off premises for catered functions, which involves carrying equipment.
  • Ability to shampoo carpet and chairs as needed.
  • Ability to build solid relationships with colleagues.
  • Ability to treat colleagues with respect and dignity.
  • Ability to deliver passionate and engaging service to guests.
  • Ability to recognize individual guests and anticipate their unique needs.
  • Ability to consistently deliver the GUEST model.
  • Track record of delivering exceptional guest or client experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Use of chair truck, table and riser carts.
  • Appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
