About The Position

The Banquet Houseperson sets up, breaks down, and maintains the cleanliness and presentation of banquet spaces in accordance with hotel standards. The role supports the banquet team in delivering meetings, weddings, conferences, and other events. It involves frequent lifting, bending, and moving furniture and equipment in a fast-paced environment with frequent event turnovers, exposure to cleaning chemicals, and varied noise levels. The position is based in Williamsburg, Virginia, and reports to the General Manager.

Requirements

• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality service.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to follow directions and work independently.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in banquets, events, or hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Set up banquet rooms according to banquet event orders, including tables, chairs, linens, staging, dance floors, and audio/visual equipment.
• Break down and clean banquet spaces after events, returning items to proper storage.
• Ensure equipment and supplies are clean, functional, and properly stored.
• Help maintain cleanliness of banquet areas and back-of-house spaces.
• Respond promptly and professionally to guest and client requests during events.
• Collaborate with the Banquet Captain and other team members to support smooth event execution.
• Inspect banquet equipment regularly and report damage or maintenance needs.
• Follow hotel policies and procedures, including safety and sanitation standards.
• Support additional hotel functions as needed, including assisting other departments during slow periods.
