Banquet Cook II (FT) (AM/PM) ("Concinero/a de Banquetes")
About The Position
The Banquet Cook II prepares menu items at an assigned station, taking care with ingredients and technique while working cooperatively with fellow associates. Under the Chef’s direction, the role helps ensure food quality and timely service for banquet guests. The position is at Bahia Resort Hotel in San Diego, California, and is full-time, with day or evening shifts. The hotel describes itself as a 314-room, beachside resort on a fourteen-acre peninsula in Mission Bay. It is owned by Evans Hotels, a family-owned and operated business that offers employee well-being programs, manager and leadership training, employee appreciation days, staff recognition, and community service opportunities.
Requirements
- At least 1–2 years of relevant experience and/or training.
- Ability to maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
- Must obtain a valid San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire; the company provides the training at its expense.
- Ability to stand, kneel, and squat for prolonged periods, potentially for the entire shift, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays.

- Previous experience in a similar position at a hotel or similar business is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare mise en place for banquet functions using production lists posted by the Chef.
- Keep prepared items organized according to individual banquet event orders (BEOs).
- Participate in preparing and plating banquet events, using proper cooking techniques and ensuring appropriate flavors and presentation.
- Assist associates in other areas of the organization to foster teamwork and camaraderie.
- Follow established safety standards and practices.
- Maintain cleanliness in accordance with Health Department and hotel standards.
- Undertake other responsibilities as directed by the Chef.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
