About The Position

The Banquet Captain is responsible for making arrangements for equipment needed for guest functions, ensuring its accuracy and completeness prior to staff arrival for room setup. This role involves assisting the Banquet staff in room setup, verifying correct setup of guest tables, buffet tables, and equipment, and ensuring all requests and needs are met by referencing BEOs. The Banquet Captain also schedules staff for pre-meal assignments and function stations, informs them of special requests or instructions, and inspects food for quality and presentation before serving. Maintaining open communication with the kitchen staff regarding any changes or special instructions is also a key part of this role. The ideal candidate will have effective communication skills, a strong work ethic, self-initiative, and the ability to work under pressure. This position may require varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The role also involves reading and interpreting BEOs to understand and verify room setup and menus. A team player who enjoys creating great guest experiences is desired.

Requirements

  • May be required to work varying schedules to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Read and interpret BEO's to understand and verify room set up and menu served.

  • Ability to work in a standard office environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer (6-8 hours a day).
  • Occasional standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Frequent fine motor skills, use of hands and fingers for keyboarding/typing, utilizing a mouse or trackpad, writing, and operating office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, reach, or carry items.
  • Ability to lift and/or move 10–25 pounds as needed (e.g., files, office supplies).
  • Visual ability to read from a computer screen and printed materials including close visual focus for extended periods and color differentiation (for certain roles).
  • Ability to hear and participate in conversations and meetings, use phone and/or headset.
