About The Position

This role involves ensuring guest functions are well-prepared and executed smoothly. The Banquet Captain will be responsible for making arrangements for necessary equipment, assisting with room setup according to BEOs, scheduling staff, and ensuring food quality and presentation meet standards. This position requires strong communication skills, a high work ethic, and the ability to work under pressure in a team environment that prioritizes guest experiences.

Requirements

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with guests and associates.
  • High work ethic and self-initiative, prompt, professional service
  • Ability to work in high pressure situations
  • May be required to work varying schedules to include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Read and interpret BEO's to understand and verify room set up and menu served
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. (6-8 hours a day)
  • Occasional standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Frequent fine motor skills, use of hands and fingers for keyboarding/typing, utilizing a mouse or trackpad, writing, and operating office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, reach, or carry items.
  • Ability to lift and/or move 10–25 pounds as needed (e.g., files, office supplies).
  • Visual ability to read from a computer screen and printed materials including close visual focus for extended periods and color differentiation (for certain roles).
  • Ability to hear and participate in conversations and meetings, use phone and/or headset

Responsibilities

  • Make arrangements for equipment needed for guest functions, ensuring its accuracy and completeness prior to the staff's arrival for room set up.
  • Assist the Banquet staff in room set up. Make sure all guest tables, buffet tables and equipment are set up correctly. Ensure all requests and needs are met, referencing BEO's.
  • Schedule staff for pre-meal assignments and function stations. Inform them of any special request or special instructions.
  • Inspect food for quality and presentation prior to serving. Keep open communication with the kitchen staff, informing them of any changes or special instructions.
