About The Position

IPG is a global leader in packaging and protective solutions, developing innovative products such as tapes, films, packaging machinery, and engineered coated materials. The company is expanding its global team and seeking talented individuals. This specific position is for a Bandsaw/Perforator Operator in the PolyAir – IPG Chicago department. The role involves operating Bandsaw and Perforator Lines on the second shift, Monday through Friday, from 3 PM to 11:15 PM. The position is hourly and unionized, reporting to the Plant Supervisory Staff.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
2+ Years in a Manufacturing environment / general labor experience preferred.
Intermediate math skills and English written communication skills necessary.
Ability to stand and walk for up to 8-12 hours at a time required.
Ability to work in space limited work area on continuous basis.
Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis.
Ability to read and understand a tape measure.
General computer knowledge and experience handling paperwork.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Ability to perform the physical aspects of the role following recommended practices, with an emphasis on safety and injury prevention.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate machine and all auxiliary equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Troubleshoot machine, make adjustments, referring major issues to Team leader, Supervisor or Maintenance.
Locate unfinished product in warehouse and bring to conversion area by cart, hand truck etc. (no lift truck).
Place product on bandsaw and trim to customer specifications per order ticket.
Package finished product and label in prescribed manner.
Manually move finished product to staging area.
Keep accurate product data and records, as required.
Maintain good housekeeping/ 5S standards in the work area.
Provide on the job training for new operators, as appropriate.
Other associated duties as required.
