About The Position

The banding line operator oversees the accurate packaging of all coils processed by the slitters on the banding line. This role demands adherence to safety protocols, attendance policies, and the packaging schedule. The operator is responsible for efficiently operating automatic banders, providing guidance to support personnel, and training line helpers in equipment operation for their designated tasks on the automated banding line. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • High school education or GED required.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job including the ability to lift 50 pounds and work on your feet on a concrete floor for the entire shift.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others and work well in a team environment.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and operating machinery.
  • Capacity to endure repetitive tasks and maintain focus for extended periods.
  • Ability to hear warning signals and communicate effectively in a noisy environment.
  • Clear vision is necessary to inspect materials and read text, gauges and instruments accurately.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication is essential for coordinating with team members and reporting any issues promptly.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to obtain a hi-lo license.

  • Abides by the packaging schedule as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Operates automatic banders efficiently.
  • Provides guidance to support personnel as needed.
  • Trains line helpers in equipment operation for their designated tasks on the automated banding line.
  • Maintains orderly work areas and adheres to production schedules.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues that may arise during operations.
  • Makes quick decisions to optimize processes and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinates with team members and reports any issues promptly.
  • Completes appropriate paperwork.
  • Follows customer specifications.
