About The Position

Under the direction of the principal, the teacher would be working with high school students to achieve excellence in the area of Band and Choir.

Requirements

• Minimum of BS/BA degree in Education
• Possess or be eligible for a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in Music Education (JQ or JX)
• Able to assess and document student progress
• Professional in personal conduct and actions
• Excellent communication skills
• Meets federal Every Student Succeeds Act requirements

Nice To Haves

• Experience in working with all aspects of a high school music program, Marching band, Choir, and Music.
• Experience using technology as an instructional tool in the classroom
• Experience in working within a Professional Learning Community
• Knowledge of Skyward Student Information System and Google Workspace

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to high school students
• Provide and maintain an orderly classroom environment
• Monitor and document student progress through Skyward student management program
• Work independently and cooperatively using a variety of instructional strategies
• Ability to plan and organize; excellent work habits
• Willing to attend conferences and participate in professional development
• Successful teaching/coaching of students preferred
• Perform other duties as assigned by administration
