About The Position

The Warehouse I - Bailer ensures that wastepaper is segregated and baled, and loaded correctly. This role is responsible for operating various baling equipment, performing machine inspections, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment. The position also involves generating shipping documentation and adhering to wastepaper program standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6+ months forklift experience
  • Safety sensitive position – ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business
  • Ability to effectively work in teams
  • Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality and perform job duties in adherence to GMP guidelines.
  • Monitor wastepaper program as defined by Area Manager.
  • Operate safely and within standards manual baler, auto-tie evacuated baler and down-stroke baler.
  • Perform machine inspections by shift.
  • Operate Power Industrial Equipment (PIT) safely Class 1, 3, & 4.
  • Off-load skids of wastepaper sheets into baler or band skids as needed.
  • Tie off bales coming from manual and down-stroke balers.
  • Retrieve and empty bins within plants at the balers following wastepaper program standards.
  • Load bales and skids onto appropriate trailers as specified by wastepaper program.
  • Generate accurate bills of lading and packing lists.
  • Monitor other associates dumping trash to assure compliance with wastepaper program.
  • Perform by shift (PIT) inspections of all pieces of equipment in the department.
  • Monitor broken trailers, coordinate trailer switches daily with Warehouse Group Leader and update waste sheets daily.
  • Maintain inside dock area and outside dock area (after every trailer switch) to ensure that it is safe and clean at all times.
  • Rearrange dock area for open space when needed.
  • Switch bales on the baler when full.
  • Play an active role in the cleanliness of the assigned work area.
  • Understand department communication systems, schedules, time/attendance system and job reporting requirements.
  • Actively participate in lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors.

Benefits

  • Shift Differential: $2.00 per hour in addition to the base rate of pay.
