About The Position

The Warehouse I - Bailer ensures that wastepaper is segregated and baled, and loaded correctly. This role is responsible for operating various baling equipment, performing machine inspections, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment. The position also involves generating shipping documentation and adhering to wastepaper program standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
6+ months forklift experience
Safety sensitive position – ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business
Ability to effectively work in teams
Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles

Responsibilities

Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
Demonstrate commitment to quality and perform job duties in adherence to GMP guidelines.
Monitor wastepaper program as defined by Area Manager.
Operate safely and within standards manual baler, auto-tie evacuated baler and down-stroke baler.
Perform machine inspections by shift.
Operate Power Industrial Equipment (PIT) safely Class 1, 3, & 4.
Off-load skids of wastepaper sheets into baler or band skids as needed.
Tie off bales coming from manual and down-stroke balers.
Retrieve and empty bins within plants at the balers following wastepaper program standards.
Load bales and skids onto appropriate trailers as specified by wastepaper program.
Generate accurate bills of lading and packing lists.
Monitor other associates dumping trash to assure compliance with wastepaper program.
Perform by shift (PIT) inspections of all pieces of equipment in the department.
Monitor broken trailers, coordinate trailer switches daily with Warehouse Group Leader and update waste sheets daily.
Maintain inside dock area and outside dock area (after every trailer switch) to ensure that it is safe and clean at all times.
Rearrange dock area for open space when needed.
Switch bales on the baler when full.
Play an active role in the cleanliness of the assigned work area.
Understand department communication systems, schedules, time/attendance system and job reporting requirements.
Actively participate in lean manufacturing initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors.
