3rd Shift Baler Operator
About The Position
York Container is seeking a self-driven Baler Operator for its third shift at its York, Pennsylvania location. The company manufactures corrugated packaging. The role handles waste from presses by shredding it, weighing and recording scrap bales, and loading bales onto trailers for overseas shipping. The operator also operates a forklift and hogger, maintains the baler, keeps the baler room clean, and enters waste data into a spreadsheet. Employees are expected to work safely, accurately, professionally, and cooperatively, maintain good attendance, and take initiative to learn and assist coworkers.
Requirements
- Pass substance abuse screening according to company policy.
- Successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check.
- Maintain qualifications as a lift operator as required by law.
- Demonstrate a high degree of attention and considerable dexterity when controlling company equipment and preventing damage to materials and equipment.
- Demonstrate a desire to be part of a winning team, with a matching work ethic and energy level.
Nice To Haves
- Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
- Experience as a forklift operator.

Responsibilities
- Operate the baler.
- Operate a forklift.
- Re-wire the baler when the spools get low.
- Operate the hogger.
- Accurately record the weights of each bale and submit the information to management for processing.
- Place dunnage that can be used by the presses in the appropriate areas.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices in the baler room.
- Perform basic baler maintenance, such as blowing down the ram section.
- Load trailers and take pictures when they have zero bales, are half full, and are completely full.
- Enter waste data into an Excel spreadsheet.
- Work safely in compliance with safety policies and maintain a neat and clean work environment.
- Communicate effectively, work accurately and efficiently, maintain good attendance, and assist coworkers when possible.
- Perform other duties and functions as assigned.
