About The Position

The Baler Operator is responsible for following all safety rules and practices, accurately weighing and recording waste bale weights, loading bales onto trucks, feeding waste into the hogger, and obtaining waste loads from production areas. This role also involves maintaining a clean and organized baler room, performing daily cleaning tasks for the baler and surrounding area, and salvaging materials for dunnage and other uses. The operator may also be assigned other duties by supervision, including training other operators as emergency backup.

Requirements

  • Ability to accurately read a measuring tape and ruler
  • Ability to use basic math; read and record accurate measures
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift truck and clamp truck
  • Ability to accurately use the scale
  • Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of team

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety rules and practices
  • Accurately weigh waste bales and record bale weights on bale tallies
  • Load waste bales onto trucks
  • Feed waste into the hogger
  • Obtain waste loads from production areas as directed
  • Maintain a clean and organized baler room
  • Clean the baler and notify maintenance of problems if necessary
  • Daily cleaning out of the overflow box
  • Daily cleaning out of the box in front and behind the chute
  • Daily cleaning of the twister/inserter box
  • Daily blowing out of the radiator
  • Daily cleaning out behind the ram follow safe practices
  • Daily blowing off the baler exterior
  • Daily sweeping of the baler room floor
  • Salvaging materials for dunnage and other use
  • Perform all other duties assigned by supervision; which may include training other operators to serve as emergency backup.
