About The Position

International Paper is seeking a Baler Operator to join their team. This role involves operating baling machinery, managing waste materials, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. The operator will be responsible for various cleaning and maintenance tasks related to the baler and baler room, as well as salvaging materials and performing other duties as assigned by supervision. The position requires a strong commitment to safety, the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, and good communication and teamwork skills.

Requirements

Ability to accurately read a measuring tape and ruler
Ability to use basic math
Ability to read and record accurate measures
Ability to safely operate a forklift truck and clamp truck
Ability to accurately use the scale
Demonstrate a sincere interest and desire to work in a fast paced manufacturing environment
Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of team
Proven leader, goal oriented, self-starter, good communicator and computer literate
Firm understanding of driving safety culture, adhering to corporate and human resources policy.

Responsibilities

Follow all safety rules and practices
Accurately weigh waste bales and record bale weights on bale tallies
Load waste bales onto trucks
Feed waste into the hogger
Obtain waste loads from production areas as directed
Maintain a clean and organized baler room
Clean the baler and notify maintenance of problems if necessary
Daily cleaning out of the overflow box
Daily cleaning out of the box in front and behind the chute
Daily cleaning of the twister/inserter box
Daily blowing out of the radiator
Daily cleaning out behind the ram follow safe practices
Daily blowing off the baler exterior
Daily sweeping of the baler room floor
Salvaging materials for dunnage and other use
Perform all other duties assigned by supervision; which may include training other operators to serve as emergency backup.
