About The Position

We are seeking a Baking Technology Specialist to provide technical support to Bimbo Bakeries USA and Co-Pack Breads, Buns, and Breakfast. This role will support development and lead product implementation functions for BBU and Co Operations, provide leadership support to BBU operations including Safety Programs, and conduct technical and statistical analysis to improve processes and sustainability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, food engineering, or related field, or a combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating competency.
  • Five (5) years of experience in evaluation of baking process technologies for troubleshooting and recommendations.
  • Five (5) years of experience in root cause and statistical analysis for continuous improvement.
  • Five (5) years of experience in presentation of reports detailing data analysis to plant or engineering management.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work cohesively with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining clear communication and trust.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Great attention to detail in reports, presentations, data analysis, and process observation.
  • Ability to drive projects with a sense of urgency and professionalism.
  • Problem-solving skills based on root cause and statistical analysis.
  • Out-of-the-box mentality.

Responsibilities

  • Support assigned bakeries in ingredient, formula, process baking technology, and continuous improvement with a focus on finished product quality, consistency, and safety.
  • Troubleshoot bakery issues and support the implementation of corrective actions by bakery teams.
  • Support Marketing, Research and Development (R&D), and Engineering development trials for new formulas, ingredients, and equipment/technologies.
  • Coordinate with Operations teams to scale up and commercialize new products, cost savings projects, and product reformulations.
  • Initiate qualification kick-off calls and ensure test bakes are conducted and launches occur on schedule.
  • Monitor post-launch quality and modify formulas/processes as needed.
  • Assist assigned bakeries with product quality concerns, consumer complaints, and waste reduction efforts using continuous improvement and statistical tools.
  • Act as a key Baking Technical resource for Engineering and Operations teams on process and equipment modifications to maintain quality.
  • Coach and train bakery associates on ingredient functionality, equipment, and baking processes using data logger technology.
  • Complete and post updated product code books for key launches.
  • Conduct formula audits using an internal database and follow up with bakeries on corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team on modifications to corporate formulas.
  • Lead productivity initiatives by networking with Finance, Procurement, Engineering, and Operations.
  • Document weekly trip results and summarize key follow-ups for the Operations team, including the VP of Operations.
  • Perform other assignments as needed.
