About The Position

Albertsons Companies is seeking a Bakery Manager to lead their bakery department. This role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction, managing staff, and maintaining inventory. The manager will be responsible for implementing company policies, managing expenses, and contributing to a positive and productive work environment. This position requires a strong understanding of bakery operations, leadership skills, and the ability to manage both people and business performance.

  • Good understanding of overall Company practices and Bakery Department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to judge and react to business activity.
  • Must frequently reach, lift and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 40 pounds.
  • Pushes and pulls fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Performs repetitious arm movement required to decorate, prepare and package product.
  • Must stand for long periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently and occasionally climb ladders.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary.
  • Must operate related equipment such as: oven, mixers, microwave oven, bread slicer, scales and proof boxes.
  • Uses work aids such as knives, scrapers and decorating tools.
  • Must use trash compactor and baler.
  • Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
  • Knowledge of basic math and weights and measures.
  • Proven ability to manage people and maximize productivity.
  • Must maintain professional demeanor in dealing with customers, vendors and co-workers.
  • Basic knowledge of employment laws and workplace practices.
  • Extensive working knowledge of profit and loss statements.
  • Complies with and ensure compliance with Company grooming standards and dress code.
  • Utilizes cleaning supplies, including chemicals, and equipment.
  • Hands are frequently exposed to water and cleaning agents.
  • Requires use of plastic or latex gloves.

Responsibilities

  • Champion corporate and division customer service programs.
  • Plan, organize, and direct day-to-day operations of the Bakery Department.
  • Conduct daily inspections of all Bakery department sections and initiate corrective measures.
  • Oversee and assist with all bakery department duties including proofing, baking, decorating, slicing, and packaging.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Prevent shrink and control expenses.
  • Accurately complete, maintain, and monitor daily log sheets, purchase reports, sales and labor reports, and other required paperwork.
  • Maintain records on ad item movement.
  • Order, check, receive, and control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Maintain inventory levels according to Division directives.
  • Stock and rotate product.
  • Maintain and organize the bakery department cooler and freezer.
  • Conduct periodic inventories and process administrative paperwork.
  • Ensure that bakery product quality, baking, and decorating standards are met.
  • Ensure proper merchandising of product by understanding and implementing schematics, merchandising of advertised items, proper signing procedures, and monitoring product flow.
  • Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, and Company policies.
  • Follow Company policy in handling quick sale items.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local health and food safety standards.
  • Assist customers by taking and filling special orders.
  • Make product suggestions and engage in suggestive selling.
  • Make intercom announcements.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of sales floor, work area, freezer, cooler, equipment, and retail cases.
  • Handle customer relations and engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
  • Monitor daily log sheet, purchase report, and sales and labor report.
  • Attend required training and sales meetings.
  • Implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment and computer software malfunctions.
  • Supervise, motivate, direct, train, and participate in the hiring of Bakery Department personnel.
  • Monitor associate performance and recommend personnel actions to the store director.
  • Identify and train associates with high potential for advancement opportunities.
  • Schedule personnel to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Communicate sales goals, department performance, and sales opportunities to department associates.
  • Comply with and ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Resolve associate complaints where appropriate and report action taken to the Store Director.
  • Immediately report any potential serious policy violations to the Store Director and assist in appropriate handling.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately.
  • Receive and appropriately resolve customer complaints and report to the Store Director as appropriate.
  • Perform all job duties with honesty and integrity and in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
