About The Position

The Operator position in the Claremont Bakery requires knowledge of G.M.P. and safety procedures related to the mixing process. The role involves following instructions accurately, accounting for raw materials, and understanding the operation of mixing and blending equipment. Teamwork, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures are essential. Operators may assume various roles throughout the day, including Line Operator, Mixer, and Blend Plant Operator.

Requirements

  • 6 months work experience operating production machinery in a manufacturing facility.
  • Must have 6 months of work history in the past 12 months.
  • Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 180 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and follow all safety procedures related to the set up and operation of the equipment, including the lock-out/tag-out procedure.
  • Demonstrate the ability to assemble and operate all equipment as designed, as well as understand the function of the equipment.
  • Inspect equipment, parts, and dough hooks to verify they are in good repair and sanitary, prior to set up.
  • Must be knowledgeable in all safety guidelines pertaining to mixing / blending and display the ability to conduct safe work habits in accordance with all developed standards.
  • Must be knowledgeable in all G.M.P. standards pertaining to personal hygiene and the mixing / blending process.
  • Inspect all raw materials for possible contaminants and report any discrepancies to Quality Assurance.
  • Set up and operate efficiently, all product forming, proofing, baking, and cooling equipment on the lines which they have received training while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and submit proper paperwork including downtime sheets, weight sheets, raw material usage sheets, product loss forms, and updated specification sheets.
  • Take responsibility for the flow of products through the production line from the divider-sheeter through the proofer, oven, and cooling spiral to the packing line.
  • Monitor and insure product quality, making whatever adjustments necessary to maintain the product in specifications.
  • Troubleshoot machinery and keep supervision and maintenance informed of any machinery which needs repair.
  • Learn the applicable G.M.P. and sanitation procedures pertaining to this position.
  • Perform the necessary wash down procedures when needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining and assisting in minimizing losses of raw materials and other materials used in this job function.
  • Inspect the equipment prior to setting up for cleanliness and also for possible mechanical deficiencies.
  • Must be able to complete all QA checks and documentation accurately.
  • Accurate and timely completion of all Q.A. and HACCP paperwork.
  • Enter data into and operate CAT2 system.
  • Be familiar with company policies, procedures, TQC parameters, HACCP and GMP’s.
  • Accurately identify all raw materials used in the mixing / blending process.
  • Assist in the accurate verification of proper blend number usage in accordance with specified dough formula.
  • Possess the ability to read, comprehend, and accurately perform any written/typed instructions for an item formulation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately complete and provide all written information required of the mixing / blending position.
  • Must be able to complete all QA checks and documentation for the raw area.
  • Assist Line Operator with filling dusting and topping hoppers.
  • Assist in the training of new employees.
  • Be responsible for controlling losses of raw materials and mixing / blending product.
  • Effectively wash down equipment for product changeovers.
  • Responsible for discarding trash in the proper container.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assist in the accurate verification of proper lot number usage in accordance with lots specified on formulas.
  • Data entry into ROSS/transfer/direct issue materials.
  • Receive bulk flour shipments in accordance with our receiving procedure guidelines.
  • Receive flour ingredients in ROSS.
  • Inform proper warehouse personnel in a timely manner of all raw materials needed for the mixing / blending process.
  • Remove inedibles.
  • Must be willing and able to operate a powered industrial truck.
  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 100 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Must be willing and able to push mixing bowl weighing approximately 600 lbs on wheels repeatedly throughout shift.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing ; ability to complete on-the-job paperwork and effectively communicate across all management levels.
