About The Position

The Bakery Clerk position is responsible for assisting customers in their shopping experience by producing, stocking, and packaging bakery items in an efficient, friendly, and courteous manner. This role formally reports to the Bakery Manager and is a non-exempt position.

Requirements

Must obtain a food handling permit within the first 14 days of employment.
Complete ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.
Know and implement the Cosentino’s Customer Service Standards.
Accurately and courteously answer customer questions by knowing department products, procedures, and policies.
Meet or exceed productivity standards.
Strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive customer and peer interactions.
Basic math and reading skills required for the position.

Nice To Haves

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist customers by filling orders at the bakery counter.
Merchandise products creatively and appealingly, ensuring display cases are clean and full.
Follow rotation procedures to prevent the use or sale of stale product.
Break out next day's product and address all special orders.
Ensure the bakery is stocked, cleaned, and ready for the next shift or day's business.
Maintain a clean and safe work area and department for customers and coworkers.
Comply with all health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures.
Operate, clean, and maintain all equipment safely and competently.
Promote sales by suggesting additional products or services.
Resolve customer complaints professionally and involve management when appropriate.
Unload incoming shipments of bakery ingredients and stock them neatly.
Complete additional tasks as identified by management, assist other stores or departments, and gain new skills.
