About The Position

A Bakery Clerk is responsible for providing service that exceeds the expectations of customers. This role requires a thorough knowledge of bakery products, including prices, recipes, and uses. The clerk will assist customers with orders, engage in suggestive selling, weigh, wrap, and process orders. They will also answer the telephone, take orders, set up advertising displays, and arrange merchandise to promote sales. Additionally, the clerk will package, stock, display, and merchandise all bakery goods according to company standards, and maintain a clean and sanitary work environment. This includes cleaning and sanitizing bakery equipment, counters, display cases, and floors. The role also involves following the FIFO rotation system, covering, labeling, and dating leftover products, and utilizing leftover products before opening new product. The Bakery Clerk is expected to provide extraordinary customer service, demonstrating a positive attitude, respect for others, and flexibility in adapting to workplace changes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months of related experience.
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods; walk; frequently use of hands; hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close and color vision.
