Requirements

  • Minimum one-year baking experience or two years line cooking experience.
  • Ability to accurately follow pastry/baking recipes in detail.
  • Knowledge of ServeSafe HACCP food sanitation standards and the ability to understand and follow standards.
  • Possess physical ability to perform tasks, including long periods of standing, lifting and bending.
  • Must be available for evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Constantly: Stand, walk, handle, reach outward, bend, lift/carry up to 20lbs, push/pull up to 25lbs.
  • Frequently: Reach above the shoulder, squat/kneel, lift/carry up to 50lbs, push/pull up to 40lbs.
  • Occasionally: Sit, climb, crawl, lift/carry up to 100lbs, push/pull up to 100lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Bake bread, pastries, pies, desserts and confections as directed by the Pastry Chef.
  • Ensure that recipes are followed for all baked goods meeting all quality control standards.
  • Ensure that portion control is maintained for baked items ensuring uniformity.
  • Assist pastry chef in tracking leftover baked goods and adjusting productivity as necessary.
  • Maintain strict adherence to ServeSafe HACCP food sanitation standards.
  • Complete daily side work duties in the set-up and breakdown of the bakery area.
  • Strive to advance baking/pastry skills by learning from the Pastry Chef.
  • Utilize proper rotation of perishable products using the first in, first out method.
  • When required, assist in the plating of deserts for use by the dining room or for special events.
  • Adhere to all safety, risk management and environmental policies in performing tasks.
  • Maintain standards of cleanliness.
  • Other duties as assigned.
