About The Position

The Baker/Breakfast Cook is responsible for delighting our clients by preparing and cooking breakfast and baked goods to the highest standards of Horizon North. This position is safety sensitive and requires a criminal record check. The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with provided meals, accommodations, and travel from designated locations. Amenities include a private room with cable TV, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, a gym, and common areas.

Requirements

• Previous cooking experience is required
• Must have a current Food Safe certificate
• Must have the ability to complete a Criminal Background Check
• Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing

Nice To Haves

• Large scale camp cooking experience is an asset
• Red Seal or other certifications is an asset
• Experience in accurately producing weekly inventories is an asset
• Previous experience in supervising a team is preferred
• High standards in maintaining a clean and organized Kitchen

Responsibilities

• Preparing and baking goods from scratch
• Restocking pastry shelves and maintaining a sufficient and fresh supply of baked goods
• Creating and following menus to ensure quality of baked goods and desserts
• Wrapping and dating all baked goods in accordance with production schedule
• Ensuring consistent quality standard in over-all food preparation as per clients’ requirements including consideration to special dietary constraints
• Ensuring proper equipment operation, safety and sanitation in the kitchen
• Complying with food hygiene regulations in accordance with Food Safety Act
• Supervising night shift employees; providing mentorship and training
