Backup & Storage Administrator
About The Position
We are seeking a Backup & Storage Administrator who will be instrumental in managing and supporting our backup infrastructure, with a focus on enterprise-grade solutions. You will leverage your expertise in Commvault & Veeam Backup and Replication (including VeeamOne, Orchestrator, VSPC, Cloud Connect), Barracuda Backup, Datto, NetApp, and other SAN technologies to lead end-to-end deployment and support in enterprise environments. You will tackle complex backup infrastructure challenges, ensuring the reliability and performance of our backup systems. You thrive on accountability, taking ownership of deployment engineering for new business pursuits and collaborating closely with the various teams to translate project requirements into detailed, actionable solutions. With end-to-end responsibility for infrastructure design and build within the Backup and Recovery (BUR) capability, you’ll define deployment strategies and ensure seamless implementation. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is key, as is your commitment to excellence in delivering robust, secure, and efficient data protection solutions.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of Commvault implementation and administration, including Veeam Backup & Replication with advanced features (SureBackup, SureReplica, Instant Recovery).
- Experience with database backups/restoration (SQL preferred).
- Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS) and experience working with Windows Server operating systems (including 2019 & 2022).
- Familiarity with VMware, Citrix, Windows, Azure, AWS, Active Directory, GPO, DHCP, DNS, DFS, ADFS Administration is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and troubleshoot Linux-based systems, including command-line operations, user management, and system configuration is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex configuration issues within multi-vendor, multi-site infrastructures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated honesty, integrity, a desire to help clients succeed, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented enterprise environment.
- Experience working for an MSP, VAR, or solution provider supporting multiple customer accounts is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field certification and equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of backup principles (including RTO/RPO) and best practices.
- Competency in Backup & Recovery: Commvault, Veeam Backup and Replication, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery solutions.
- Competency in Virtualization: VMware, Hyper-V, and Citrix.
- Competency in Storage: Dell EMC (VMAX, VNX, Unity, hybrid and all-flash arrays), FC, iSCSI, CIFS, and NFS.
- Competency in Microsoft Technologies: Azure, Exchange, and Office 365.
- Competency in Linux Administration.

Responsibilities
- Deploying, configuring, and managing Commvault/Veeam Backup & Replication.
- Creating and maintaining backup jobs, replication jobs, and disaster recovery plans.
- Monitoring backup jobs, alerts, and health of systems.
- Troubleshooting and resolving backup and recovery issues.
- Optimizing backup and recovery processes to improve performance and reduce storage consumption.
- Day-to-day operational activities such as restore testing, break/fix, general upkeep of platforms.
- Working with storage administrators to ensure sufficient storage capacity for backups.
- Understanding storage technologies such as SAN and NAS.
- Troubleshooting storage-related issues affecting backups.
- Implementing and maintaining security best practices for the backup platform environments.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant data protection regulations.
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for backup configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
