Backroom Associate - New Location: Lathrop, CA
About The Position
Sam’s Club is hiring a founding Backroom Associate for its new Lathrop, California club. The associate supports club operations by receiving, processing, organizing, and moving merchandise from the receiving area to appropriate locations and the sales floor. The role helps maintain inventory accuracy, reduce shrink, and ensure products are available to members in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. It involves maintaining a clean, organized, and safe backroom, handling claims and clearance merchandise, and following company procedures and safety standards. Flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays, is required. The posting lists an hourly wage range of $19.00 to $27.00, with possible premiums in specified circumstances.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Forklift certification, or obtain a forklift certification within 30 days of the job entry date.
- Be organized and detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and process shipments according to company procedures.
- Verify merchandise counts, organize receiving reports, and route merchandise to appropriate areas.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe backroom and receiving area.
- Track and process claims, including damaged goods and returned merchandise.
- Prepare and manage clearance and liquidation items.
- Operate equipment safely and follow company safety standards and guidelines.
- Conduct safety checks and report unsafe conditions to management.
- Support inventory accuracy, reduce shrink, and maintain proper merchandise handling.
- Contribute to a collaborative, accountable team and support club operations.
