About The Position

Bryant Electric is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Backhoe Operator to join our team. In this role, you will operate backhoes and other heavy equipment to excavate, move, and load materials in support of construction projects. The ideal candidate has experience operating heavy equipment, understands site safety requirements, and can work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred
Valid operator certification or heavy equipment license, where required
Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a backhoe or similar heavy equipment
Strong understanding of excavation practices and jobsite safety
Ability to read and understand construction plans and grade stakes
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Dependable attendance and punctuality
Ability to pass required background screening and drug testing
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to sit, climb, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods
Ability to safely navigate uneven terrain and active construction sites
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Responsibilities

Operate backhoes and related heavy equipment safely and efficiently
Excavate trenches, foundations, and other site requirements according to project specifications
Load, move, and unload materials, debris, and equipment
Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and construction drawings
Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic preventative maintenance
Report equipment malfunctions and maintenance needs promptly
Coordinate with field crews, supervisors, and other equipment operators to ensure project success
Maintain accurate equipment and work logs as required
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
