About The Position

1FORCE is seeking independent contractors nationwide to conduct personnel security background investigations in support of federal government contracts. Investigators assess the employment suitability of people seeking access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information. The work involves face-to-face interviews, record searches, and preparation of clear, concise narrative reports using a government-provided computer and network system. The position is based from home with remote supervision, but investigations are conducted in person and require travel, typically within 50 miles of the investigator’s home or primary work location. Contractors run their own businesses and are paid weekly based on completed work tasks and activities rather than an hourly wage or salary. Investigators may accept or reject assignments within contract parameters, but accepted work must meet government deadlines and quality standards. Mileage and travel expenses are the contractor’s responsibility.
