We're hiring a Backend Tech Lead who combines strong technical depth with the ability to guide, mentor, and elevate a team. You’ll lead backend development efforts, drive architectural decisions, and help the team navigate complexity with confidence. You’ll also bring a genuine curiosity for AI and a passion for building systems that are robust, testable, and future‑ready. This is a 100% remote role (must be located in the US), full-time with competitive salary, bonus, 401K, and more.

Requirements

10+ years of backend engineering experience with a track record of delivering production systems.
Test automation expertise — this is essential.
AI experience — professional experience is ideal; personal projects or demonstrated passion are also valuable.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, cloud services, and backend architecture.
Ability to evaluate tradeoffs and make sound technical decisions.
Collaborative mindset — you actively engage the entire team and create space for every voice.
Curiosity — you seek to understand the business case, not just the technical requirements.
Ability to handle complexity — you simplify, decompose, and guide others through ambiguity.

Responsibilities

Lead backend engineering efforts across design, development, testing, and deployment.
Break down complex technical challenges into clear, actionable work for the team.
Foster a collaborative environment where every engineer feels engaged and empowered.
Partner closely with product and business stakeholders to understand the why behind what we build.
Drive best practices in test automation, code quality, and system reliability.
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers of varying experience levels.
Contribute to architectural decisions and long‑term technical strategy.
Explore and integrate AI‑driven capabilities where they add meaningful value.
