About The Position

At FORE, we serve as a catalyst for AI adoption. We build custom AI solutions for companies in Tech, Real Estate, and Retail, expanding their utilization of untapped datasets to solve imperative business challenges in workforce and operations. All our work is developed in close collaboration with our team of leading professors and PhDs from Stanford, Wharton, and Kellogg, helping us apply the most cutting edge methodologies to our solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to grow with FORE while implementing impactful tools for our clients. FORE is institutionally backed, we primarily operate remotely (on PT), and meet quarterly in person at investor-provided offices in Los Angeles, CA. We are excited to bring on someone who shares our passion for exploring new technologies, collaborating in fast-paced teams, and evolving with the ambitions of FORE. As a Backend Engineer, you will be the driving force behind backend development projects, ensuring seamless integration and performance across the entire stack. Collaborating closely with our Lead Engineer and CTO, you will have the opportunity to lead critical development efforts that directly impact the scalability of our platform. This role presents a unique opportunity to engage with high-profile clients, addressing complex challenges with solutions that impact both user satisfaction and the overall growth of our platform. You will lead initiatives that improve system performance, streamline user interactions, and enable our clients to engage with technology in ways that were previously beyond reach.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience working with major cloud platforms and data pipeline best practices, GCP preferred.
  • Proficiency in Python and its data-related libraries (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy).
  • Familiarity with the use of NLP to set up experiments, however deep understanding of how these models work is not required.
  • Experience with version control using Git.
  • Strong attention to processing integrity and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities using best practices in product testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • High attention to detail, particularly with data security best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize backend systems at scale.
  • Set up servers, cloud resources, and projects from scratch, ensuring scalability and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor and respond to production issues, proactively improving system resilience.
  • Reduce cloud and compute costs by optimizing resources.
  • Adapt to different project needs, integrating new technologies as required.
  • Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure robust backend solutions.
